README.md
I'm Hemanth N, a B.Tech student in Information Science & Engineering at University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bengaluru — currently holding a 9.0 CGPA.
I enjoy designing backend systems and exploring how scalable software is built from clean architecture and secure authentication to efficient databases and cloud ready applications. My primary tech stack revolves around Java, Spring Boot, SQL, REST APIs, Docker and Git. I'm constantly expanding my knowledge of modern backend development.
Outside of code: I'm a Black Belt (Dan 1) in Shito-Ryu Karate, with over 7 years of dedicated practice. Also an athlete, won multiple competitions in the 100m sprint, 1600m race, relay events, team sports and I enjoy pushing my limits both on the field and in my professional journey. When I'm not coding or training, I'm an enthusiastic movie addict who enjoys exploring films across different genres.
Experience
A chronological log of where I've worked and what I actually did there.
- Administering the college’s network infrastructure, supporting network connectivity, troubleshooting and availability across campus systems to ensure reliable access during academic and placement activities.
- Coordinated with 100+ companies for campus recruitment activities, facilitating communication between recruiters, students and the placement cell.
- Conducted the "Let's Get Placed" programme for 700 B.Tech students for interview exposure and preparation.
- Built and enhanced responsive web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.
- Contributed across both frontend and backend modules in an agile team environment.
- Gained hands-on exposure to modern web development workflows.
Projects
Two systems built around one theme: deciding who gets access, and proving it.
- Engineered a role-based aftermarket operations platform managing spare-parts inventory, dealer replenishment orders, warranty claims, and tier-based pricing.
- Designed transactional inventory workflows where order approvals and warranty part issuance update shared stock, with insufficient-stock handling to maintain business consistency.
- Implemented RBAC for Admin, Dealer, and Customer roles using Spring Security, BCrypt authentication, protected routes, and role-aware Thymeleaf views.
- Modeled order and warranty lifecycles with controlled status transitions, warehouse stock tracking, and low-stock monitoring.
- Concurrent downloads via a pool of worker threads coordinated through a thread-safe task queue (mutex + condition variable), avoiding busy-waiting.
- Implemented pause/resume downloads using POSIX signals (SIGINT) and HTTP Range requests with libcurl.
- Built a thread-safe progress tracker using mutexes for real-time multi-threaded download updates.
- Tested interrupted downloads and verified accurate resumption with byte-level integrity checks.
